Madden's Race

Ages 11-15: 200 yard swim, 6K bike, 2K run

My favorite part of Madden's race: she was the ONLY one in a bikini. Pre-race, she told me if she had to wear a Speedo, she was not going to race. I told her to wear whatever she wanted. Girl power!

Callie's Race

Ages 7-10: 100 yard swim, 5K bike, 1K run

Sports-A-Rama

The 5th graders topped off Sports-A-Rama day with a water balloon fight that Madden dubbed, "Epic!"

Take me out to the ballgame....

We spent what was quite possibly the most beautiful day of the year at Disch Faulk field on Saturday. The Longhorns won a double-header against Texas Southern. Great day for a baseball game with longtime wonderful friends, the Pauleys. Happy Birthday, Jared. Hoping one day soon you will be a Longhorn!

Hey Mister - throw me a ball!!

Thanks!!! (Who could resist these three cute girls?)

Across the Miles

The highlight of the Farewell Girl Scout party was the Skype session with troop member, Min Ju, who moved back to Korea this past December. She is dearly missed by the girls, and it was a joy to see them interact over the internet.

Farewell Troop 1820

Our Troop's last blast - swim party at the Wallace casa. Great night, great hostess, great girls. A bit sentimental that the Girl Scout phase of my life is over. But not too much.

3rd Grade Girlies

Spent Monday escorting this precocious group of 3rd grade girls about Austin. We hit the Botanical Gardens, the Capital Area Food Bank, and finished up with a picnic lunch at Little Stacy Park.

A Day at the Capitol

As Callie was telling me about her adventures of the day, she says, "The best part is that we got to see someone famous!!" Wow, I think, who was at the Capitol today? Willie Nelson? Obama? (He was in Austin today.) Sandra Bullock? Lance Armstrong? No. Callie's famous person was the Lt. Governor, pictured above. Sweet. But not nearly the level of famous-ness I had in mind.
