Scarlett

The family has taken to owl-watching every evening. Our screech owl, Scarlett, appears about 8 pm each night, perches for a few minutes and then swoops away. Tonight we confirmed that we have Scarlett AND Rhett living in our backyard! Such excitement! One swooped in, the other swooped out. Fabulous family time together.

Red River Highlights

• Drive to New Mexico - not nearly as painful as anticipated! Thank God for movies and Nintendo DS.

• Drury Inn Amarillo - stay at this place if you can! Seriously! It is dog-friendly, so we got our furry fix; free beer at happy hour; yummy hot breakfast!




• Red River Ski School - ridiculously understaffed!


• Mountain - too small! Even the girls got bored the last day.

• Madden - slow, steady, careful skier - loved the runs through the trees! (much like her mommy at age 10!)

• Callie - similar ability as Madden but with a dash more adventure about her - skied "The Face" on her last run! (black diamond)

• Skiing with old (and new) friends - AMAZINGLY good times - we've already spent hours on the computer researching for the next trip! Kids spent every night running from condo to condo; grownups took turns making dinner, drinking a few beers and all-around enjoying each other's company!

• Catching up with "Gramps" - love that guy - we got to see Porter's college roommate coming and going and meet his cutie-pie kids!

Porter's Birthday

January is a busy month for the Wilson household with Madden's birthday, Porter's birthday and our anniversary. Madden's birthday slumber party was Jan 8th, which meant that it carried over to Jan 9th, Porter's birthday. He awoke that morning to the sweet sounds of a slumber party serenade, complete with birthday cinnamon roll!

He ended the day in classic birthday fashion - chocolate cake!
