Fame!

All this fame in the same week. Pretty remarkable, huh? Like mama like daughter.

Surprise Visit

We had a completely unexpected, yet lovely, visit with family yesterday. My Aunt Polly and Uncle Jack were in town. Aunt Polly is my dad's sister (my biological father, for those of you looking puzzled). They are winter snowbirds from Ohio, traveling through the country with their camper and boats. They called Saturday night and happened to be in Georgetown, TX! So they came over Sunday afternoon and we grilled hamburgers and caught up on life. It was a really nice, easy visit, as if we'd just seen each other recently. Our last visit had been in 2005 when Porter and I went to Columbus, Ohio for the UT/Ohio State game. It was nice, as they got to meet Melanie's husband, Jeff, for the first time. Thanks so much for visiting. It brought back lots of happy memories. Y'all come back now!

This photo is not from Polly & Jack's visit, but is a photo of our cousins' families.

End of an Era

The last Father-Daughter dance for our family. A little bittersweet.

Treaty Oak

Callie had such a good time performing in her school's production of Treaty Oak. She played the part of young Lena and grandmother Lena. She closed out the show with a recitation of Trees by Joyce Kilmer. Perfection!

TREES by Joyce Kilmer (1886-1918)
      THINK that I shall never see
      A poem lovely as a tree.
      A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
      Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;
      A tree that looks at God all day,
      And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
      A tree that may in Summer wear
      A nest of robins in her hair;
      Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
      Who intimately lives with rain.
      Poems are made by fools like me,
      But only God can make a tree.

20 years, Baby!

So fun to celebrate twenty years together on the slopes. And the icing on the cake was getting to spend a day with dear family and friends! Looking very forward to the next twenty.

Teenager Alert

Happy 13th Birthday to our dear baby girl, Madden. She turned 13 on Friday, and we left town Saturday! Didn't want to stick around for any of that teenage angst I keep hearing about.
