Just topping off a great weekend! Mom and Dad arrived on Friday night to participate in a flurry of weekend activities with us. So grateful to get to spend time with them. We hadn't seen Dad since Christmas, or Mom since February. Long overdue. Love y'all so much.
Callie had a soccer tournament this weekend, and Madden had her Troupe dance show. The soccer team played hard and won 1 out of 3 games, but we keep seeing glimpses of success. They are so close and such an animated, fun group of girls. We hope that this group stays together for many years to come. The majority of them are at the same middle school and will attend the same high school, so we are hoping they are in it for the long run. I have become such a soccer mom. Waiting for Callie's game today, I found myself cheering for the game prior to hers, not a single person whom I knew. I just have developed a love for the game through watching Callie's love of it. Madden's dance show was also really great - probably the best one I've seen (and let's just say I've seen a few). And I know I am biased, but WOW does my girl shine on the stage! The best part of the day was having so much family in attendance: 2 sets of grandparents, 3 aunts, 1 uncle, and 2 friends all came to watch the soccer and dance! Such love!
Now winding up the day by being served a gourmet dinner by the girls and Porter. And when I say gourmet, I do mean that. All the recipes were from a cooking school Porter has attended multiple times (thank you, lobbyists!). They served beef tenderloin, crabcakes, broccoli cheese bake, and carmelized onion mashed potatoes. I am stuffed full.
Prayers tonight for Hankey Bannister, please. He is in decline. We have fallen in love with this sweet guy over the last few months, and I barely remember life without him. Praying he will rebound, but if not, that we can discern when the time is right to let him go without him suffering. I love being a dog mom every bit as much as a people mom. They just steal your heart, don't they?!
